Service Description:
|
The Intimate Partner Violence Unit (IPVU) investigates incidents of intimate partner violence and provides safety support, resources and enforcement for victims and families in Halton Region
- responds to reports of physical, sexual, emotional or psychological abuse within intimate relationships
- conducts investigations, collects evidence and lays charges when reasonable grounds exist
- attempts to locate and arrest suspects, including obtaining arrest warrants when required
- refers victims to the HRPS Victim Services Unit for safety planning and ongoing support
- provides information about available community supports for survivors of intimate partner or sexual violence
