Service Description: The Intimate Partner Violence Unit (IPVU) investigates incidents of intimate partner violence and provides safety support, resources and enforcement for victims and families in Halton Region
  • responds to reports of physical, sexual, emotional or psychological abuse within intimate relationships
  • conducts investigations, collects evidence and lays charges when reasonable grounds exist
  • attempts to locate and arrest suspects, including obtaining arrest warrants when required
  • refers victims to the HRPS Victim Services Unit for safety planning and ongoing support
  • provides information about available community supports for survivors of intimate partner or sexual violence

Application:

  • call 9-1-1 in emergencies

  • report incidents to police by phone or in person
