Service Description:
|
A voluntary service offered throughout Halton Region that allows a family member and/or caregivers of vulnerable persons to submit critical information to Halton Regional Police Service that may be used during an emergency situation
- a Vulnerable Person is defined as a person who due to a medical, mental health or physical condition, may exhibit patterns of behaviour that may pose a danger to themselves or to others
- could include an inclination to wander, the inability to communicate, fascinations or attractions (water, construction sites, etc.) and social responses (fear of strangers, aggression)
- may include persons with Alzheimer's disease, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Acquired Brain Injury or a mental condition that causes a person to exhibit the above behaviours
Information required:
- name and address
- contact information
- recent photograph of the individual (optional)
- medical condition
- de-escalation techniques
- tendencies/routines
- registry information is updated annually
- information is only available to HRPS personnel in the performance of their duties

Application:

- parent(s), guardians, administrators and substitute decision makers are encouraged to submit a registration using the online registry
- anyone who does not have access to the internet is encouraged to visit any of the district police stations for assistance in registering
