Service Description:
|
Provides a one-time grant (up to $650) for low income households who are behind their hydro bills (or $780 home is heated electrically) * it is intended for emergency situations only * pre-screen clients to determine eligibility * help clients to complete a LEAP (Low-Income Energy Assistance Program) funding application if they qualify for the program * lower income family may also qualify for a reduction on their electricity bill through the Ontario Electricity Support Program (OESP) by applying a monthly credit directly to their bill * the amount of credit depends on how many people live in the home and combined household income * applicant may qualify for a higher level of assistance if they have medical devices at home such as kidney dialysis machine, mechanical ventilators
