Service Description: Halton Region Public Health conducts case and contact management and outbreak mangement for all diseases of public health significance.

Registered Nurses, Public Health Inspectors and Infection Control Specialists:
  • Complete investigations of diseases of public health significance (reportable diseases) including respiratory, enteric, vaccine-preventable, zoonotic, vector-borne and blood-borne reportable diseases. 
  • Respond to outbreaks in long-term care homes, retirement homes and congregate living settings, and enteric outbreak in childcare centers.
  • Review and assess applications for mandatory blood testing of Emergency Service Workers under the Mandatory Blood Testing Act.
  • Ensure infection prevention and control (IPAC) programs are in place in long-term care homes, retirement homes, child care centres, and inspections of Personal Service Settings.  
  • Complete IPAC investigations and inspections
