Service Description:

Delivers free, coordinated access to community-based mental health services to infants, children, youth, young adults (up to age 25) and families in Peel Region * services include assessment, treatment and education delivered by mental health professionals * each child, youth or young adult’s treatment plan is customized to address their individual needs and be responsive to their unique life and family circumstances * call 905-451-4655 or visit WhereToStart.ca or email info.wheretostart.ca to access services * volunteer opportunities available
Services fall under one of the following categories:- Targeted prevention * including a variety of free and confidential groups, workshops and webinars designed to help children, youth, young adults and families understand mental health and how and when to reach out for help
- Brief services * including Tangerine Walk-In Counselling, which is a single counselling service for children, youth, young adults and families who need immediate, short-term support
- Counselling and therapy services (both child and family counselling and youth/young adult counselling services)
- Family capacity building and support * webinars and workshops offered at set times throughout the year, as well as programs offered by the Strongest Families Institute for children, youth and families who are struggling with disruptive behaviours and anxiety
- Specialized consultation and assessment with psychologists, psychiatrists and other child, youth and young adult mental health experts
- Free and confidential crisis line and support services available 24/7 by calling 905-278-9036
- Intensive treatment services to support children, youth, young adults and families in their own home, in their school or community, and/or sometimes in the out-of-home live-in treatment programs
