Family Law Information Centres provide information on:
- separation, divorce and related family law issues
- child protection
- family justice services
- alternative forms
of dispute resolutionlocal community recoursescourt processes
Legal Aid Ontario provides duty counsel lawyers virtually and in person at courthouses who
- listen to family law issues
- make suggestions about what to do
- explain the laws applicable to a situation
- review completed court forms those that need to be completed
Duty counsel lawyers are available on the day of the family proceeding and in some instances may also assist when a person goes before the judge. A duty counsel lawyer cannot represent a person in a court case
