Service Description: Tax related assistance for Seniors and people with disabilities:
  • property owners who are over the age of 65, or people with disabilities, whose combined household income does not exceed $46,600 can apply for a property tax deferral for the year-over year tax increase
  • deferred taxes are registered as a lien on the property and are repayable upon the sale of the property
  • property owners over the age of 65 with a combined household income not exceeding $29,306 (other eligibility criteria apply) may apply for an annual tax rebate of $500

Application: Application and Notice of Assessment (for each resident residing at the property) from Revenue Canada must be in before November 30th of current year
Eligibility / Target Population: Applicant or spouse must be 65+, be registered owner(s) of only 1 residential realty property in Oakville for one year prior to Jan 1 of current tax year * combined family income must be less than $46,600 for deferral and less than $29,306 for rebate
