Service Description: Team of professionals and volunteers dedicated to helping children, youth and families manage mental health and/or justice issues * parenting resources

Family Programs
  • Individual or family counselling for children and youth who are experiencing mental health challenges, including depression, anxiety, emotion dysregulation, history of trauma, or struggling with grief and loss, family or peer issues
  • Family Connections: intensive, home-based and/or virtual program which provides support to families in times of crisis
  • Multi-systemic Therapy Program (MST): home-based and/or virtual, family-focused treatment which aims to reduce anti-social behaviour and improve family functioning, peer relations, and school performance of youth ages 12-17
  • Positive Parenting Program (Triple P): gives parents/caregivers simple and practical strategies to help build strong, healthy relationships, confidently manage their children/youth’s behaviour and prevent problems from developing
  • Working Together With Families (WTWF): home-based, family-focused counselling for families and children ages 0-6
Youth Programs
  • office-based, outreach and virtual counselling programs for youth, ages 12-17, and their caregivers
  • focused on managing mental health issues; school/employment issues; housing and connection to services, including transitions to adult services; and support for youth who identify as 2SLGBTQ+
Youth Justice Programs
  • provides several diversion and court-sanctioned programs for youth who are involved in Youth Justice, with the goal of supporting re-connection to the community and diversion away from the formal justice system
  • Halton/Peel Counselling Program: counselling for youth ages 12-19 who are on Probation or involved in Youth Justice programming at AYSP, and experiencing mental health challenges
  • STEPS - Youth Community Counselling Program: outreach-based and/or virtual counselling and case management programs for youth ages 15-17 years experiencing on-going mental health challenges, who may be under-housed or homeless and/or likely to transition into adult services
  • Youth Mental Health Court Worker provides in-person/virtual support to youth experiencing mental health issues who are involved with the Youth Justice Court
Workshops/Support Groups
  • parenting groups for parents/caregivers, and various support and educational groups for youth throughout the year
  • parents/caregivers workshops (in-person or virtual group)
  • Youth Beyond Barriers (YBB): weekly in-person/virtual YBB group is a support and psychoeducational group which brings together 2SLGBTQ+ youth, to share their experiences and talk about issues that matter to them
